Laminates/ veneers/ thineers are placed over the front teeth to change color or shape of your teeth. They are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. They are thin pieces of porcelain or composite bonded over the front layer of your teeth.
The main difference between the three of them is their thickness. Depending on the level of correction desired & various other clinical parameters we choose either one or a combination of them.
The Porcelain ones are fabricated in laboratory & therefore have a longer life expectancy and color stability than composite laminates.
A smile is considered a "gummy smile" if a significant amount of gingival tissue (gums) can be seen as a person smiles. Although a gummy smile is considered a normal variation of human anatomy, many people with gummy smiles are very self-conscious when smiling.
Fortunately, these smiles can be corrected with simple surgical procedure involving combination of tooth lengthening surgery to reduce the gums followed by Porcelain Veneers/ porcelain bridge.
